Miniature Hinge Mechanism 

USU has developed a low cost, low mass, low energy and low chock miniature hinge mechanism for the deployment of communication antennae or other appendages. The hinge mechanism has the merits of being fully re-settable, with no-energy latching requirements and no backlash. The latching mechanism is fully mechanical and does not use magnetic components. Deployment angle can be adjusted with high precision as needed. This simple design can perfectly fit for micro-satellite applications and can also be adapted for larger spacecrafts according to mission needs.
